New directors bring recognised experience in music rights, commercial growth and investment
LONDON, 28 September 2026 – Music Technology UK (MTUK), the trade association for the UK’s Music Tech sector, has appointed Chantal Epp, Founder of ClicknClear, and Will Hughes, Chief Revenue Officer at Sound Patrol, as directors of its Board.
Chantal Epp is Founder of ClicknClear, a global micro-licensing and compliance technology platform unlocking untapped markets to increase revenue for music rightsholders whilst protecting music users from infringement in a variety of vertical markets. In 2025, Chantal won the Entrepreneur Award at Music Week’s Women in Music Awards, and ClicknClear received a United Nations WIPO Global Award for its innovative licensing approach. The company has signed global blanket licensing deals with all major record labels and publishers (Universal, Sony, Warner), and its licensing compliance technology is used by the Olympics and many other high profile partners. Chantal brings commercial, investment, and public policy experience to the Board.
Will Hughes is Chief Revenue Officer at SoundPatrol, a technology company building infrastructure to protect creative value and copyright as AI reshapes how digital media is identified, attributed and monetised. Founded by Michael Ovitz and Walter De Brouwer, SoundPatrol has announced partnerships with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Traxsource. He leads the company’s commercial strategy, product and industry liaison. Will has spent more than a decade working at the intersection of music, technology and rights, with experience spanning label management, global music licensing and rights technology, including senior roles at Audible Magic and an early contributing role at Songtradr. He brings to the Board a commercial perspective shaped by working with major rights holders, technology platforms and startups, alongside experience in fundraising and early stage businesses, with a particular interest in how music technology companies can scale, attract investment and create sustainable value.
The appointments follow a nomination process MTUK opened earlier this summer, as part of its decision to add two members to the governing Board to better reflect the needs and values of its membership.
MTUK’s Board is the association’s principal decision-making body, responsible for its strategic direction and mission. As directors, Chantal and Will will help shape MTUK’s strategy, programmes and priorities, and bring member perspectives into its discussions.
Chantal and Will join MTUK’s existing Board: Cliff Fluet, Chair; Matt Cartmell, Chief Executive; Helen Sartory, President and COO, Beatport; Gareth Deakin, Founding Partner, Sonorous Global Consulting; and Claire Mas, Strategic Advisor, CriticalMas.
Chantal Epp, Founder, ClicknClear, said:
“Music has been undervalued and undermonetised for far too long despite its global cultural significance; technology offers an opportunity to scale the industry to new heights. I’m excited to join the MTUK board to help bridge the gap between music tech companies, investors, and strategic opportunities to help elevate and grow the ecosystem for the benefit of all involved.”
Will Hughes, Chief Revenue Officer, Sound Patrol, said:
“The UK’s music tech sector has world leading strengths in rights technology and AI, and there is a real opportunity to strengthen the funding routes, go to market support and wider ecosystem available to companies across the sector. I’m very excited to bring my experience to MTUK, contribute to its continued growth and help innovators navigate the industry, scale their businesses and bring new ideas to market.”
Matt Cartmell, Chief Executive, Music Technology UK, said:
“Chantal and Will bring valuable experience in commercial growth, investment, public policy and music rights tech. I look forward to the perspectives they will bring to our strategy and to the members we represent.”
